We have a very poor Garda traffic core in this country.
It's fallen from 2009, where it was about 1,200 Garda in the traffic core, to about 680 now.
So, like, you know, one of the big problems in this country, we can build all the legislation we want, but if we don't bloody enforce it, it's not worth a hill of beans.
Well, no, because if you actually look at the number of Gardaí in the country has fallen per capita over that year as well.
And the reason being is because we're not paying proper pay terms and conditions to Gardaí.
It's not a job that many young people can actually live in the likes of the Mideast area, pay for their accommodation, pay for their lives.
You know, back in 2023, the Australian Guard of Force
employed, recruited more Gardaí net than the Gardaí did in this country.
So that shows you the government themselves are not recruiting the Gardaí to give to the Gardaí management to be able to impose it.
So very briefly, we have seen an increase in Gardaí in the last couple of years after seven full years of fall.
And we have, it's still below 2009 in terms of per capita numbers.
And yes, there has been...
Because the population is increasing and we have to increase the resources when the population increases.
So it has the necessary impact.
But the truth of the matter is the deaths on the roads have increased in general, not just e-scooters, in terms of cars over the last number of years, because people know that they're unlikely to get caught with bad behaviour.
And when that bad behaviour increases, unfortunately, deaths increase also.
Yeah.
Yes, I do want to hit this issue about the GOA are stating very clearly that they are pursuing on their own licenses.
They don't have a Garda license.
They don't have the training to pursue.
