And with that, I guess there was an expectation that we would do our best.

And I remember coming home one time with a mark for French that had an A for achievement.

and a three out of you know which was not that great for effort or it might have even been a four and my father took me to task for the four he said i don't mind if it's a b or a c but i expect you to put in 100 effort so that's i guess the the expectation was clear there that you do your best well very cool um i'm sure they were very proud of you and your brother and sister

They were and they were hugely supportive and showed that in different ways.

We were lucky.

We know we were lucky with our parents and they gave us a huge step up in life and opportunities, expectations, but values as well.

And many of those values were anchored in the values of the church and of Christianity.

How important are values?

I'm kind of slightly fascinated by them now.

I heard the phrase, you can't go further than your values.

Yeah, I'm big on values and I talk about this when I give talks around the experience in COVID and I guess as a leader you've got to know what your values base is and of course organisations also tend to have values and this was really important for me through COVID.

That's part of how I got through.

I would, especially in those media stand-ups, the big thing was how I wanted to come across.

And how you come across, of course, is how you behave and our behaviours are predicated or anchored in our values.

And so knowing what your values are and what's important to you, regardless of what's happening and what other people might think was really important to me.

So I had these values that have been important through my life, I guess, and career as a leader.

And again, I think they're

They're values that probably anchor back with my parents and with Christian values.

So I was talking about four, kindness, courage, integrity, and humility.

And the humility is a really important one.
