And even though winters are likely to become wetter, it's these extremes.

So plants can cope well with periods of drought, and native Irish wildflowers in particular are fantastic because they've evolved here, and even some Mediterranean plants.

So one of the things that you could do with those type of plants is actually mulch.

It sounds

Even the word itself, mulch, sounds quite boring.

But putting bark or compost or wood chips around plants kind of acts like a duvet for the soil.

So it keeps moisture in, reduces evaporation, and it even can suppress weeds.

So again, less effort is needed.

So you're not adding water.

You're simply kind of stopping the water that's already there from disappearing or leaving.

So there's a bit of physics in this.

Like I said, it's how deep you can get the water to go.
