And the only real slip-up Donegal had yesterday was I think McManaman was on him for the goal, which is very similar to the score he got last year with Paddy Clifford basically passing the ball, he cuts over towards the Cusack side, then double backs and McColl slips.
Same thing happened.
He goes out towards the Cusack, turns back in, cuts inside McManaman and gets a goal.
Bar that, Donegal was switched on with him for the whole game.
But again, how much of it do you put down to the supply coming into him?
How much ball was he on?
And how many bodies were around him?
So it's very difficult.
That's the calibre of player he is.
You'll never, not for a while anyway, will you be able to say there was a man that marked him and that was it, like it was years ago.
You don't get that now.
But that transition was so slow for Kerry that they didn't get the opportunity to have the space inside.
But the one thing I compared to the All-Ireland final last year was their variation of scores.
You have White coming in off the side line, even Clifford in the second half coming in off the Hogan side, cutting in for a score.
And then you had a lot of their two-pointers or big scores coming down the middle of the pitch.
Or you had O'Shea kicking a few frees right on top of the arc for two-pointers.
and then you're mixing getting goals by kicking the ball inside and they didn't really have that variety yesterday they didn't they were kind of one dimensional whereas Donegal did you could see Donegal coming in from the sides taking goal opportunities I don't know how many goal opportunities off the top of my head they got last year in the All-Ireland Final
Donegal yeah very few like compared to obviously yesterday I can't think of one I don't think they had any you know so that variation flipped Kerry had that variation last year Donegal had it yesterday like you know we'll continue on with this chat just after this break
Did he still get hammered?
He has an impact of course he's that type of player he pulls the strings like does he link with David a little bit more yeah but like I'm telling you O'Connor's response to talking about them being you know lacking energy that's a manager saying no matter what happened there yesterday as a manager I couldn't put the Fires out there
