So he knows it, right?

And so through 65, 66, 67, his fears are amplified.

For me, I think the big moment is when McNamara basically says in 67, this is not going anywhere.

November 67, McNamara's out.

And I think for Johnson, that's when he realizes, like, okay, I got a huge problem here.

But again, you know, you can't just pull out.

And Don, that's the thing.

Johnson himself in late 1967, he launches this big PR campaign known as the Progress Campaign.

And he basically, he brings Westmoreland, General Westmoreland back from Vietnam.

He brings bunker back from Vietnam.

And then he has them go on television, essentially to convince the American people that everything is going well in Vietnam.

So, and this is where it's interesting, right?

You've got all these people saying, oh, the media, right?

The media lost us the war because it was so anti-war.

Well, it turns out that essentially the pro-war forces, including Johnson himself, also tried to co-opt television.

Right.

So and so they create this, you know, Westmoreland's on TV, he's on Meet the Press.
