This is kind of interesting.
People might be aware of this also is that, you know, Johnson and Nixon, I mean, they really, they don't like each other.
But Johnson will offer Nixon some advice on Vietnam, which Nixon will be grateful for.
Johnson was no fan of Vietnamization, the gradual withdrawal of U.S.
forces, because he thought that might embolden the communists.
But in terms of the negotiations that Nixon conducted, it appears that Nixon did consider Johnson's input when it came to the negotiating process with the North Vietnamese.
So there's an interesting relationship there.
And then, yeah, as you point out, in 1973,
Paris Peace Accords, providing for the disengagement of U.S.
forces.
And I don't know if you want to call it irony or whatever.
And then Johnson dies just around that same time.

There's a lot of lessons to be learned from Vietnam, right?
I mean, but I think sometimes we learn the wrong ones.
So, for example, right, as you probably know, Don, a lot of people on the right and in the armed forces would claim that we lost because we weren't allowed to fight the way we normally do.
That's, you know, the constraints imposed on the military were legitimate, again, because we didn't know what the Chinese were doing.
I mean, I've got North Vietnamese diplomats, right?
who worked in China at the height of the war, telling me that they themselves were afraid of the Chinese because at the height of the Cultural Revolution, no one knew what Beijing would do or not do.
