And yeah, and I think what's kind of interesting is when you see the John Savage representation, it's like a Greek contrapposto sculpture, which is at odds with like, you know, you see the writings of, there was descriptions of, you know, the boy crying for weeks when the mum had to be cast away at sea because she died of cancer.
..of some kind of illness.
But it's described in a kind of... For some reason, he seemed to be upset.
Yeah, for some reason he was upset, you know.
And then the kind of violence continues, because when he dies, his skin ends up being, like, shown at the Bodleian.
You know, so the kind of violence... Because it's tattooed, basically.
And he was kind of... I guess that's kind of a key description that we miss, that he was kind of advertised as the Painted Prince...
The story was like his markings were like magical and it could like conjure scorpions and, you know, all these marketing things.
But essentially it was a boy being trafficked for British entertainment.
And I really wanted to find a way to talk about that history, to monumentalize this boy.
But then also, you know, it was still through the language of marble and this etching.
And it's almost like a Michelangelo hand either grasping for a body lost at sea or pulling away, depending on how you approach it.
