Because I kind of, I love walking through the objects.
So much of the work is about display.
And so I learn a lot about display by just perusing objects.

But when I'm in between making work, I think it's tape modded.
by what they see I don't think it's ever really conscious I think it just so happens maybe there's a part of that maybe there's a part of like needing to preserve some kind of singularity you know while you're neck deep in production but I don't think it's ever really conscious I think it's like with a V&A it's always like when my wife and I for instance when we were making this incredible like jewelry project that like we've been collaborating on for
for years it was like oh we need to how is the tiara mounted and so you end up spending like two days of the V&A looking at like the mechanics of display and so I feel like yeah the V&A feels kind of more instructive at moments when I need that.
picking up on the perhaps problematic elements of their activities but in a way which is through art I mean I wouldn't say there's a flood but definitely there are conversations but then you also become kind of weary of the invitations because it it then becomes like a format to make you know going back to the idea of the memoir I think it's still very much a personal endeavor and I think I will only ever accept that invitation if there is that connection
But then you won't know until, you know, you do a bit of a deep dive.
But yeah, you suddenly become an artist who engages with archives.
And actually, you know, I do enjoy it because sometimes it's like the residue is really magical.
Like I remember for Carnegie, I was going through Andrew Carnegie's letters, his handwritten notes and stuff.
And obviously because there are hundreds of them, no more, they're, you know, old piece of paper.
So every now and then as you like open the letter, like a bit of the paper would like fall in your lap.
There's something kind of magical about the residue kind of literally becoming dirt on your trousers.
You know, it's a conversation that I'm constantly having with institutions.
But then there's a certain kind of point where you question what's right and what isn't.
But I can only ever approach it through a personal relationship with something.
That makes lots of sense.
