which is something that actually might be contradictory to these large histories that I'm talking about.
But actually this moment where you have a piece of paper, you're in the studio for months at a time, there's something about the process of thinking through things while making that does happen.
And I think also the objects that I often end up depicting, you know, are objects that aren't really talked about or have been purposely forgotten.
And this idea of kind of drawing every single stitch becomes a way of like kind of over-remembering something.
And that process of drawing as an excess of remembering is really important to how I approach making work.

I mean, I still find it weird when I'm referred to as a curator because it's not how I see myself.
But, you know, when I was speaking to my uncle, Jack, who was married to Pasita for three decades before she passed, you were like, you need a title.
And he was like, you're going to be the curator.
I'm like, OK, I'll take it.
But in the end, that's actually what the role ended up being, because I ended up organizing the first exhibitions that really brought her back into a consciousness.
We did the first exhibition in Manila with curator Rosalina Cruz in 2018.
And then an exhibition with Robert Leckie that I co-curated with him at Spike Island.

Yeah, it wasn't a job that I thought I would be doing.
It just fell into my lap and it became this incredibly meaningful endeavor.
It fell into my lap just a few months after my mother had passed in 2017.
And actually working on Pasita's legacy became a kind of a way of refracting grief into something more productive and
