And at that level, you reduce your risk of all-cause mortality, type two diabetes, cardiovascular disease by around 10%.
So this isn't telling people go and start buying bread if you don't have it, go and start buying pasta.
Based on typical consumption patterns in the UK and the US, if we were to change our bread.
We would add in at least about another 20 grams of whole grain.
If we were then to change the rice, so this is uh white rice to to whole grain rice, the white pasta to whole grain pasta, we would again be adding about another 10 grams of whole grain in each time.
So we'd be increasing our whole grain by whooping about 50, 60 grams.
But you're still having your sandwich, you're still having your pasta, you're still having your stir fry.
And then potatoes, you know, we are a potato loving nation, so is the US, so are many countries, keep the skin on.
Makes a huge difference to the amount of fibre, the amount of micronutrients.
Absolutely.
You don't have to do it for all of them.
Like I personally cannot stand brown pasta, but I have changed my white bread to whole grain bread.
That's where the biggest size effect is anyway.
And the great thing, Jonathan, as well, going from the white grains to the whole grains, there's almost no difference in price.
So it's accessible and affordable for everyone.
Those small changes do add up.
So I have mixed nuts and seeds for my breakfast with my yogurt.
Great, that ticks a box.
But the rest of the time, my choice of vegetables and fruits is quite largely determined by what I know my kids will eat.
Yes, I know we should keep exposing them to all different fruits.
