That's a discovery no young woman wants to make.

No young person should want to make.

But I think especially you're right that these stories are resonating at the moment, especially with young women.

And to say, here's somebody who not only...

came up against problems in her culture, but responded with wit and humor and the best chosen language.

That's pretty cool.

It's a little bit of a triumph in the face of a lot of garbage.

I did have one question from a woman who, like me, has sons.

And she said, you know, how do you get your sons to read Jane Austen?

And I had to acknowledge to her that my sons have not read Jane Austen.

They've seen some of the films, but they have grown up in this world and maybe they should be given a pass.

But I said to her, you know what?

I wish I would have told them, as you should definitely check out Pride and Prejudice because the mother is totally roasted.

And she said she thought she could try that on her son since she might be able to make some headway.

You hate to recommend a book for that reason.

But, you know, my feeling is anything that gets them into the books, that's just great.
