I mean, just a dumb pace.

No, not at all.

Those are like 540s on the track.

That's where you're about to die.

But you don't do that very long.

So this was a two-mile warm-up followed by three miles at tempo, two-mile cool-down.

And I had a buddy, my current training partner is out west.

He's on a business trip enjoying 65 degrees and nonsense sunshine.

And here I am at 17 degrees and cold.

And so I had another buddy, part of the Chevy Chasers running crew.

He paced this morning, and it was hard.

I was not great.

I did the first mile at 635, and then the next two a little bit over, and I was tired.

It's been a long week.

Well, and you said the mental side of things is really what you're trying to get through.

Mental is absolutely 100%.
