And it was, you know, something about that felt very arresting to me at first.

And then I was sitting there in this context of my own sacrifice.
And I thought, wait, she's not a villain motivated by harming someone or even self-interest.
She's just trying to take care of her children, her daughters.
And I related to that so much.
And I thought this would be, this is a story.
Why hasn't anyone ever told this story before?
So it was
And it felt like it was like my creative brain and my personal life and my desire to write and publish a book from so many years before synthesized.
And the project ended up being what kind of helped me get through that time period.
My husband's doing so much better.
As soon as we knew everything was going to be fine, that became my me time was sitting down to write whenever I could.
And so that was really the origin of
Lady Tremaine.
So the success of the book is so personal to me.
Every book is personal.
I mean, you spend so much time with it, but it's connected to what I had deemed as an earlier failure of my own writing career.
It's connected to that time in my life.
It's now the story I want to share with all little girls, especially my own two little girls.
