It's very healing.
And the beautiful thing about dance is that it'll bring to surface blocks, things that women don't want to see or have been pushing under the rug.
It'll bring it out.
I mean, I can remember having class and I'd have 15 students in class.
And at first when I started teaching classes, it was something that was really hard for me to get used to, but I'd have dancers break down and cry.
And I think, oh my God, are you okay?
No, I'm doing great.
This is what they, I'm fine.
And they would, it would be a breakthrough in an emotional block.
Something would just break.
It would just leave them and they would just be crying and it would be a good cry.
Sometimes it would be a, you know, a real extreme cry.
And the one thing that I noticed with dance is that it's, it basically shows you everything, all the skeletons in the closet, the doors open and everything falls out.
and it's it's like okay you don't have to pick everything up at once type of thing but the dance will basically bring out the things that are the most important blocks at the moment and in it you can take your time in looking at everything but the dance requires you to look at it because if you can dance and break free from whatever it is like say for instance some of my students
had abusive relationships and they would come and say, Hey, you know, I, cause I had one gal who came in with a black eye and I said, well, this is really what you want.
And she would give that relationship and her boyfriend, she would give him the benefit of the doubt and make up excuses for him.
And she could only do it for so long.
But one thing that happened is that the more that she learned to express with her body,
the more she realized that she was worth more than what she thought she was.
So that relationship wasn't what she wanted anymore.
