He had denied murder at the outset of the trial, and part way through the trial he had offered a plea to manslaughter, which was accepted by the director of public prosecutions.

And that was on the basis that it had been consistently argued by his legal team that he had played a much lesser role in the events on the night.

So the the plea of manslaughter was accepted in his behalf.

Again, there was very detailed reports submitted on his behalf by his legal team, and he will discover what sentence he's going to receive for the manslaughter conviction on September the eleventh as well.

That's very much the impression that everyone got.

Like there was very emotional.

It's one of the most emotional trials that I've covered.

There was incredible distress on both sides, both from the families of those that are charged in relation to Mr.

Daly's death, and of course the Daly and the O'Reilly families.

I mean, some of the victim impact statements that were submitted were amongst the most.

Emotional and moving that I've ever heard.

And you got a sense that the community, that it'll be a long, long time before the community is any way close to, you know, rationalizing or come to terms with the awful events of October the 11th and 12th last.

And you mentioned the speed with which this trial was dealt with.

And that's a very perceptive comment because normally murder cases of this type can take two and possibly even three.

years to come to trial.

But there has been a directive from the Supreme Court that cases involving juveniles are to be given top priority and that they are to be dealt with as a matter of great urgency.
