I'm going to research this like a PhD and I'm going to find out every single person, the specialist.
I'm going to go talk to 10 different physicians.
I'm going to analyze this like crazy.
I am not going to take your word for it.
And I believe in my efforts to gather more information, I will also calm down a little bit because I feel more in control.
I don't think they're in opposition to each other, but there are two ways in which humans respond.
I think both are powerful ways to cope with fear.
Because ultimately, we're trying to make sure that fear doesn't paralyze us.
What I wanted to point out was here is that when I get into the C's, commitment is where I talk about the stories we tell ourselves.
And not all of the characters, but most of these people have a self-narrative.
You know, we all have a self-narrative in our head.
Who am I?
Why am I here?
What am I meant to be doing?
Some of us are more familiar with that self-narrative.
Others are not tuned into it.
And it turns out this self-narrative that is in our head really shapes how we think about ourselves, how we look at situations.
My mother had a self-narrative.
I'm a self-made woman and no one is going to push me around.
I've worked really incredibly hard to get to where I am and I am not going to let anybody take it away from me.
