This is an exceptional situation, though, because I think Harris is less defined than anybody in recent memory.
So I think if they do a really good job of coloring in the perceptions for the American public, I think some of that either like bounce could be durable or just the support you've seen move to Harris over the past few weeks could be more solidified and permanent coming out of this convention.
I think for a lot of people, like the bio of Harris, like even as somebody like me, I've been in political work since I was an undergrad.
I learned something every day about Harris.
And like a good example was the reporting that Shane did at the New York Times over the weekend of like how Harris survived a narrow race for the attorney general's race.
And like just little things that we all took for granted for Obama, for example, or Biden, because they both –
had long primaries in the case of biden had been in our life for a long time i think these things as they're dropping them piece by piece each night so i think as people learned oh this is what her parents were like this is she worked at mcdonald's like her first ad said or she survived a really tough race or she's really tough on sexual predators or um you know people who are trying to rip you off etc like or and just even hearing from her i think once you get there like you get to that point of the convention you're
I think that's going to really help her and keep people in her camp who've moved towards her, which is as important as building that bounce.
People like that.
You know, it's such a contrast.
You know, I know there are certain strategists who said that that's a little too cute or whatever, but I actually think it's a tangible part of her bio that separates her from Trump, who you can't imagine doing a job like that.
But most Americans have had jobs like that.
Well, Don, you've been out there and you've heard from people who are dissatisfied with this administration and not only not sold on Harris, but are solidly Trump, including among key Democratic constituencies.
Is there anything you heard today that you think could help with those constituencies?
Yeah, there's a shadow campaign going on behind the scenes, you know, run by Karen Dunn, who is running debate prep this time around, which is like a quiet changing of the guards.
This happened behind the scenes in the Republican Party, like for a long time, Ron Klain had been running debate prep going all the way back to to carry 2004.
And you've got a new crew in there who've been somewhat involved.
But what's interesting is their their lift is way heavier than it's ever been before, because what they're doing is they're having to prepare Kamala Harris for the debate coming up, which is obviously really high stakes.
But at the same time, they're using those prep sessions to prepare her for the inevitable press conferences that she's going to have to give.
So they're using it as double prep.
