And I was curious to understand why this individual was chosen again to represent
the city in the BPAC because based on the votes, based on the voting records, based on the comments that we've seen in some of those meetings, it may not necessarily represent all of the city's views and where we are today.
So I was kind of curious as to why the staff made that recommendation.
THE RECOMMENDATION WAS MADE BY THE BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION THROUGH A UNANIMOUS VOTE.
MY UNDERSTANDING IS FOUR OF THE FIVE COMMISSIONERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND THOSE MEETINGS FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
AND HERVE WAS ABLE TO ATTEND THOSE.
AND SO HE DID SAY HE COULD DO THAT.

THE PURPOSE OF THE VPAC IS TO PROVIDE EXPERTISE AND GUIDANCE TO THE BOARD ON PROMOTING AND ENHANCING NONMOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION OPPORTUNITIES THROUGHOUT SANTA CLARA COUNTY AND SERVES AS A LIAISON BETWEEN THE VTA AND THE MEMBER AGENCY BIKE PED COMMISSION.
SO BASICALLY THEY PROVIDE EXPERTISE AND GUIDANCE AND THEY'RE A LIAISON BETWEEN THE VPAC AND OUR BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN COMMISSION.
Per the VTA bylaws, it must be a member of the bicycle pedestrian commission if the city has a bicycle pedestrian commission.
Yeah I can't provide you all a list of all the items that they vote on but again the point of the BPAC representative is to provide some guidance and you know general expertise you know their expertise on the subject matter.
I think it's a bit of both but mostly of themselves as an expert I think is part of it but they are required to be a member of the agency the lead agency which is a in this case a member of Cupertino whether a resident or somebody works in Cupertino.
I can't get into every subject that they've talked about typically they're providing guidance and expertise.
I'M NOT SURE THAT THAT ISSUE WOULD BE COMING UP TO THE B PACK.
I think we're talking about a hypothetical, and I could try and get some, we could go through old agendas to see what the topics are, but typically their responsibilities provide expertise and guidance.
Yeah, and keep in mind the BPAC is an advisory committee to the board, so they do not have, they are not voting on anything.
They're providing advice, I should say.
