I got a question for you and then to the city manager.

I just went through the city work program dashboard and the CIP dashboard that's here and the question I have is when you're looking at mid-cycle adjustments like for example city work program we only have three items that are completed out of the 30 that we asked for.

So how do we factor that into the process?

And then the second one is something I discussed with you guys earlier on a prep call, which is really, we probably should have a baseline budget, like essential services, and then another level of like, hey, nice to have, and then a level like, hey, these are luxuries, and that kind of prioritization.

It'll make it a lot easier as we try to figure out what projects to cut, what projects to keep, depending on what our budget situation looks like.

So how do we incorporate some kind of mechanism like that for the methodology?

This might not be right either.

Let me add to that a little bit.

So there's the work program, and then there's all the other stuff.

Like the work program, like this small piece out of the overall budget versus all the other operational things that are in there.

So the question is,

I'm on the same alignment as you because I'm like the CDOP is like, hey, squirrel, when the real issues are sometimes in the operational part of the budget.

For example, on my end, something on a more strategic level is how will we take advantage of AI tools to help

know with compliance or ai tools to help you with operational efficiency or identify cost reduction or ai tools to help you with scenario budgeting and planning so that you can actually start getting to some level of situational awareness you know like what's happening yeah in kind of real time like it's not going to get there but at least it can help you with staff hours doing research or staff hours trying to figure out how to yeah and that's also the point there um you know when in march of last year when council was adopting this framework

Well, it gives you a tool to put into other things and not just not AI ones.

There won't be one expert because it's in each domain, but people know that AI for city planning or AI for permitting or AI for, it's going to come down to that level.

you're going to get like experts that are experts in those areas there's someone that can direct you into all those different areas and municipal government or ai is being applied you're going to find those but i think for right now some of the most useful things you can think about is where you can find like let's say you're trying to solve we have a lot of issues with ticketing and ticketing and trying to process ticketing requests in 311 right someone can run ai run an ai against the ticketing or some of the providers already have that tell you where the patterns are right or how to staff appropriately or adjust your staff allocation
