There's a great book called Palestine 1936 that described what was going on there.

So you were coming to the end of the British Mandate.

And you had the Jews had been coming in since the 19th century.

They'd been there a long, long time ago.

And they were looking for, you know, a place to be.

The Palestinians were looking to drive out the British.

And the Palestinians and the Arabs reached a conclusion in the mid-1930s and said, okay, Jews, you can stay, but you're not going to run anything.

Okay.

Jews said, no, we can't.

So they started a civil war.

Okay.

And they fought.
