I had the idea in my head that I thought...
I could play him.
I was confident I had enough experience on stage and character acting, I suppose, that I thought I could play him.
I didn't think it'd be too much of a leap.
What I thought would be difficult was getting Gerard to agree to meet me, let me do research, let me talk to him, and then let me write a play that was quite challenging to him.
That was the biggest challenge for me.
