It doesn't matter how amplified it is that you feel you should be reaching out more
But actually as ADHD people, a bit like being a hunter, we're focused on the tribe that's in front of us.
Those are the people we've got the ability to protect and therefore they're the ones that we are going to protect.
So our focus is on them, but that doesn't stop us thinking about the others.
And then I think when, like say when death happens, you know, that grief kicks in more because now we can't do anything about it.
When we have, and this comes into the now versus not now clock, I've created a picture of a clock that says now or not now.
And, you know, where grief comes in, so in a living person, we can always put it off.
So it's always not now, but I'm going to contact them tomorrow.
Not now, not now, not now.
So it disappears.
When somebody's died, it suddenly becomes that now has gone.
and there'll never be a not now that's in the future the not now is always in the past so that amplifies the grief and i think that amplifies it beyond what a neurotypical person feels as grief because we have a lot of blame that we then torture ourselves with with the rsd beyond just i'm very sad that this person is no longer on this planet
Or this person has been through pain and, you know, it's now, you know, it ceases to exist.
The grief part is very much, you know, amplified beyond just grief.
It's also that self-torture of blaming that you were the person who should have got in contact with them.
And I used to do that with my dad.
My dad left when I was very young.
We didn't see him an awful lot.
And I, as a young adult, used to say to myself, I need to be the one that contacts him.
You know, why am I not contacting him?
