But the last ones to be shed and regrown are the head feathers.

Now, that is interesting that it should not have the head feathers.

So, something odd is going on there.

It didn't complete its molt, perhaps.

Now, why is another matter?

The other thought that occurs to me is that if it did get, had an encounter with, say, a cat or a magpie or something, and it managed to escape but lost all the feathers on its head.

Richard, it would have lost its head if you see the picture.

Well, it should have lost its head.

Now, if it did lose feathers to something like that, the follicles would still be intact for the new set of feathers.

Now, at the molt, they would grow a new set of feathers.

That would be my surmise.

But it is most mysterious.

Well, now, if you take the chicks when they come out, they're young robins.

Daddy's an aggressive so-and-so.

The robins are a very aggressive crowd.

They're always fighting.

They're a terribly more inappropriate...

for the season of goodwill at Christmas.

Nothing is more inappropriate than the robin because he's a tough character.

Well, now, when the babies come out, they haven't the red breasts.
