But your point in that answer about breakneck speed is an issue.

Coming myself from a former regulatory background, is the speed and pace of change of AI so fast that any attempts to regulate it are always going to fail?

I actually started the podcast talking about some of the scare stories.

And some of what you've just said there and some of the predictions of almost Armageddon that you get obviously get the headlines.

There are people who say that it's a huge distraction and that the real risks of AI are at a completely different level, but are real.

And those are the things that we should be focusing on.

A recent paper done by my friend and I tell you,

Kalache at Data Moran, a former guest on this podcast, he argued that, quote, misuse, malfunction and loss of control with AI systems, pursuing goals which were never intended, is indeed a major risk.

So, you know, he's a guy writing for capital markets and the investor community, amplifying the scare stories.

Those are my words, not his.

What are the real risks of AI as you see them?

And Alex, you say that AI is not a uniform category.

Different AI applications have different sustainability impacts.

So is there good AI and bad AI?

And how do you distinguish between them?

And there's a recent academic paper I'm sure you've seen from the Universities of Frankfurt and Potsdam that says...

agrees and backs up your findings, but says that action could be taken that means that we as a world and business can still embrace AI, but those negative sides could be dealt with.

They say not just disclosure in the way that you've argued already in this podcast, but also saying that the tech companies behind AI should be required to develop their own renewable energy sources.

And they also say a special emissions trading scheme could be set up for AI firms and that that could deal with the problem.

Do you think some of those solutions might work or what's your own view about that?
