I'm here with journalist Sarah Hagee answering your work drama questions.
By the way, if you've got some work drama you want advice on, call us at 347-RING-TIU or email uncomfortable at marketplace.org.
All right.
Our next question is read by producer Alice Wilder.
You're not a sore thumb.
That hurts my heart.
I always find it so strange when workplaces are cliquey like that because it's like,
You're here for work, you know?
The worst thing about jobs is that, like, you kind of have to be around people that you otherwise wouldn't really want to know.
Yeah, truly.
Which is, like, so harsh to say, but you're kind of like, what universe would I ever know these people?
Regardless of what this person ends up trying or, you know, whatever effort they put in, it's like there's only so much you can do as people that you don't have anything in common with outside of work, right?
Yeah.
And it's not...
It's up to you to show, like, oh, like, I'm worth being friends with and I'm worth, you know, socializing with in this way.
I think it's better to let go of that if you feel like you've really tried and figure out a way to...
be comfortable and confident at work without their validation.
But obviously it's easier said than done.
Yeah.
But also just like taking the pressure off thinking it's like 100% a you problem when you've tried to be amenable.
