partial to this idea because I think I just have the same kind of pessimistic temperament or risk averse temperament that he has.
Um, I hate being hungry also and you know, I think it's terrible.
But that's not I don't think it's objective that that my take on or my interpretation of experience is somehow objectively true for all people who enjoy their experiences.
Um so I don't think that line of argument against all procreation succeeds.
I think we have to take people at their word when they
say that they love being alive.
I don't see why we're in a better position to tell them that they shouldn't love being alive and that they're really miserable.

So that's one one at one uh sort of argument.
that's that would say that that would make all procreation wrong.
And then Schiff presents another argument which is based on consent.
Um, which I'm also sympathetic to, which is that nobody has to be born and you're just kind of shoving it on somebody without their permission.
And isn't that a a consent rights violation?
Um, but the problem is that we create when we procreate, we procreate children and children don't have consent rights because they're not autonomous.
So we have paternalistic authority over children, and therefore it would only be wrong to impose
life's risks on them if that risk would not be patern you know paternalistically permissible to impose.
If it would be like sending your child out in a blizzard without a coat or a flashlight, if that's what life is like.
But we don't think life is like that.
