It's kind of impossible and it's unnecessary in terms of fairness, um of procreative fairness.
So
uh that can seem to be surprising.
Um the other thing that might be surprising is that you get this sort of abortion prize and adoption penalty if you follow the principles that I set out, which is that if you're willing to abort a child that might have a big problem, then you have much greater um
procreative freedom because let's say um you can decide to get pregnant at forty two w where the chances of Down syndrome are pretty high, or let's say at forty five where I think it's like one in
Nine, one in five.
I have the numbers in my book, but it's I think it's even one in four and really high.
Eventually they get to be
staggering because they rise exponentially.
And so if you're not gonna if you are if you think abortion is wrong, then you cannot get pregnant at forty five because that impos it's an irrational risk to impose on a child.
The the burden on the child is far greater than the procreative restriction would be.
But if you're willing to say, well I'm gonna get pregnant at forty five, I'm gonna be squint I'm gonna have uh
an amnio when I'm five months pregnant and if the child has down syndrome I'm gonna abort it.
Well now you can get pregnant at forty five, that's no problem.
And so you have greater procreative latitude if you will screen and abort um
for certain problems with certain fetuses.
Um and that's just seems like, oh, that seems wrong, but it's actually accurate, uh, because um
you're not going to actually have that child and so uh it doesn't it seems to be
um reasonable um
You know, because it's not surprising that a greater d you know, that more ch more choice, have abortion or not, allows for more permissible choices.
