Just the structure.
If you look at it, it looks, you could build a house on the way he forms jokes.
And he would say to us young comedians,
Because back then, they're like in the early 80s, there were like bars that they would turn into comedy clubs and 120 seats.
You know, if you do enough shows, it might go like 10,000 bucks.
It might come off.
And that was like if he would do that by that time, by 84, I think he'd done or 83.
He'd done like 42 tonight shows.
Wow.
42 five-minute spots.
Wow.
And then we'd watch him, and the structure of his stuff was so great, you know?
And he would just have, like, the simplicity of his thing, which was almost like an English thing.
He would say a little joke like, magic is just to make you feel stupid.
Here's a quarter.
Now it's gone.
You're a jerk.
It's just a wonderful simplicity.
And then after, we'd all hang out and try to get some money.
you know, some nuggets of wisdom by the master, you know?
