There are those HFpEF patients who have more of the metabolic form of the disease and where SGLT2 inhibitors may be a better medicine for them, and those who have the hypercontractility form of the disease where a cardiac myosin inhibitor may be better suited for them.
So that's what we're learning through ongoing clinical research, but our focus is where the anatomy
is producing a syndrome of preserved ejection fraction even higher than 65%, and where a cardiac myosin inhibitor may be more appropriate than, for instance, other drugs working more on cardiometabolic pathophysiology.
Absolutely.
Yes, that's the aim.
We're moving with some urgency towards making that happen.
And I hope that we'll have data in 2026 to inform that strategy as could be pivotal in 2027.
Yes, I think it could.
Again, how it affects diastolic function, how it affects systolic function, these are things we're learning in phase two.
We're measuring those very metrics.
And I think based on what we know preclinically, we have reason to believe and we'll know more in humans soon enough.
Yeah, so I'll mention one other thing.
Cytokinetics is enabled to do what we're doing in science and for the benefit of medicine and patients because of the way we've approached the business all these many years, how we access and deploy capital, how we leverage partnerships from a business and corporate development standpoint.
I think our partnering, which includes both pharma companies, biopharma companies, and how we monetize royalties has enabled us to be thinking like good stewards of shareholder capital and equity.
Now, as we turn the page onto commercialization, we have a strong balance sheet.
We have options to draw down on other capital if that proves to be a good strategy.
We have the ability to pull levers.
And I think if there's anything I've learned in over 40 years in this arena,
is it's important to diversify not only technical risk, but how we approach business risk.
And I think Sato Kinetics is perhaps one of those companies that's set the high watermark on the way in which we integrate business strategy with R&D strategy.
