But um uh
they wanted to return to office.
more than they wanted to do the right thing, in my opinion.
And uh so that meant that returning to office meant that uh there were uh uh political um
uh measures that they had to take or meet.
And uh so uh while they fully understood that these people are independent businesses
often family owned businesses and businesses that are smaller than are deemed by their regulations to be quote small businesses they uh decided to uh go ahead and and uh pursue that
anyway.
And uh it it it's one of the reasons uh why, you know, I have so little hair left.
uh
You know, i it's it's extraordinarily frustrating to sit across from someone and to see the light bulb come on and they and and you know, while they may not have been aware exactly of how how franchising works at the beginning, when they finally understand, uh you you e you expect them to turn to you and say, Well, I'm happy to do it and uh to introduce an amendment to fix that particular problem with the bill.
I'm happy to vote against this bill.
But
Uh uh they thank you very much in m in many of those cases and in most of those cases uh in in Seattle.
They thanked us very much for taking the time and for uh for the uh the small business owners that were franchisees that came in with us for taking the time to s to spend with them.
Uh but it changed their behavior not one uh scintilla.
And uh it uh it's uh it is uh a uh a difficult

It's a difficult process and uh I I
