Welcome to The Athletic Football Show.
I'm Robert Mays.
Really fun show for you guys today.
I think that the Packers and the Lions are Super Bowl contenders this year.
I don't think the Bears are there for a lot of different reasons, and that's okay.
But there's absolutely a path forward for this team as a wild card.
We're here now with the Rams head coach, Sean McVay.
I've got some news.
We're bringing you a brand new show, The Athletic Show, your essential guide to the biggest stories in sports, every Saturday on Amazon Fire TV.
It's been so...
rewarding and nourishing to watch a team go from a young, exciting, kind of inconsistent team to one that feels like legitimately dangerous in moments like this.
And we've had spike seasons in this town before where a team comes out of nowhere.
Wins a bunch more games than you think they're going to.
But for a lot of different reasons, they feel like a blip sometimes.
Like the 2018 season felt like that.
And I think that's partially because it was defense driven.
It's hard to maintain defense driven success in the NFL for a bunch of different reasons.
Having...
success be defined by a young quarterback a young coach a rising offense that feels extremely different in this town and i think that's why it's so exciting because i think for one of the first times in the 38 years i've been on this planet it feels like the bears are successful for reasons that you can keep rolling with and i think that's why this feels so so exciting
I think they can win this week.
