It's you know, it's not uncommon to hear people complain about elections.
Um but in the first ch you know, first part of your book in these chapters you build your critical stance towards
Current familiar forms of electoral democracy.
Naturally, the first item on the agenda is to talk about what precisely the object of our political scrutiny should be.
That is, when we are criticizing uh contemporary forms of democracy, what exactly are we uh uh targeting?
Uh can you tell us a little bit about what you call your broadly functionalist view about what the sort
sort of the the the item of evaluation is when we're talking about evaluating a political system.
Excellent.
Yeah.
And so y you know, sometimes and what uh what I found refreshing about the book was all the attention to the complexity of it.
You know, it's not
Uh too long ago in democratic theory that
Um, people might talk in these sort of functionalist terms and, you know, use the metaphors of, you know, the person wearing the shoes knows where it pinches.
