which are about this sort of social conception of of reason and intelligence.
Um, and uh you devote um
A large part of the chapter seven to talking about
um w what we in democratic theory now think of as the epistocratic challenge.
Like why not let experts rule?
Um but I'm gonna gloss over those in unless you really want to talk about them.
And just I I wanted to sort of ask on about the the final chapter of the book.

Which goes back to uh uh where we began in a way.
Um, you know, the idea of democratic progress might under these contemporary uh, you know, current conditions look a little naive.
Backsliding uh seems to be um uh a predominant force uh in contemporary democracies, not only in the US.
Um and your book ends with a chapter about sort of populism and current sort of anti democratic trends that have seemingly found uh a welcoming audience in contemporary democracies.

and um you make some proposals about some experiments to try.
Uh in the the last couple of minutes.
Can can you can you tell us a little bit about the these closing notes?
Well
This seems like a uh a a a good place uh uh to end uh to bring our conversation to a to a close.
Um let me just say, um th there's a lot in the book that we we didn't get to discuss that is uh will be of great interest to anybody who's uh interested in in in these these topics.
