The head is and the figure is against a very spare background, a monochrome background with just a diagonal streak of light.
So it's really much the head and the pose that really engages you.
And I think this is an example of where she's really responding with warmth to the sitter and where we know from her memoirs that she really appreciated the sitter on a personal level and engaged with them.

And we know from her own memoirs, and this is also backed up by Golovina's own memoirs, that they had a very close relationship, that Vigée Lebrun appreciated Golovina's wit, her musical ability.
