You wait for maybe some DNA, some evidence, somebody to come forward, a confidential informant, other things of that nature.
But even with that being said, I wanted to kind of rejuvenate the case and let's see what we could do better going forward.
Because it was a little disappointing to see that this case was something that nobody seemed to get an understanding of what needed to be done and what needs to be done going forward.
I try not to go back so much into the missteps into the investigation.
I did want to know what exactly was done.
And there was a couple of cell site hits.
They created a box of cell site hits, one being in Massapequa, one being in Midtown Manhattan.
My predecessor, Geraldine Hart, who I was very happy with some of the things that she did,
She presented a belt that had initials on it, and depending on how it looked, it could be very much of a strong evidence that helped out with who could be a person involved.
This belt was used to bind one of the bodies that were discovered on Ocean Parkway.

we set up a website or they set up a website prior to me getting there and one of the strategies working with the fbi was to try to get some ip hits the only concern with that with ip hits there were thousands and thousands of people that were on the website so that wasn't something that we could really focus in on so there were some steps done but you know just based upon my time frame as an investigator nypd i i think a lot more could have been done and and
you know, when you're in New York City, there's an accountability when it comes to a major case and making sure things are,
Everything's being followed up on.
What outreach are we doing?
Can we get more community engagement?
What sciences can we use?
Hey, is there a chance that we could use technology?
Are we circulating all of our confidential informants?
Are we going into the jail cells and speaking to clients, either johns or sex workers?
