And that Claire and Ledger pick up the story and they were like, this is amazing.
This is a great work.
And it's these little things that you kind of reinforce that, okay, I think I'm doing the right thing.

I was in Jackson for that roughly a year with that Associated Press and then the news design job.
And then I was back for two years at the Madison County Herald.
So I was in Jackson for roughly three, three and a half years without being at the Clarion Ledger and in the sports department where I wanted to work so bad, like you said.
And my good friend to this day, Kareem Copeland, used to work for the Washington Post and actually now lives, actually moved to Chicago, works for ESPN.
He left the Clarion Ledger.
He left the Jackson State Beat.
He was the Jackson State Beat writer and that opened up a spot.
And I'll never forget where I was and when I was when the sports editor at the time, Rusty Hampton, who was one of the, who I learned probably the most from of any editor that I've probably ever worked for.
he it was not surprisingly it was at a bar in downtown jackson where we met um and he where he offered me the job and it was it was like it was sort of an awesome thing um and i remember taking that and being like okay like i'm gonna go like crush this you know and and uh and uh my first my first month on that beat my first week on that job
