So if it was just as simple as total sun exposure, you'd be getting melanoma on your face and your hands, right?
Which is where you get squamous.
Like, yeah, the other ones are clearly connected to sun exposure because that's where you get them.
Melanoma is more common in places getting less sun.
It's more common in office workers than in outdoor workers.
And so it seems it's chronic sun exposure, like everyday sun exposure is actually associated with slightly lower rates of melanoma, while intermittent sun exposure and especially sunburns, a history of sunburns.
is definitely associated with higher rates.
So the pattern for melanoma seems to be have fair skin, work in an office or somewhere else where you never get daily sun exposure.
So your skin is very unused to dealing with sunlight.
Then go to Ibiza, right?
And get fried.
So
That's definitely a recipe for melanoma.
Do not do that.
That is an exact question that I have as well.
There's a lot of papers coming out on the gut-skin axis, as they call it, or the GSA.
It's clear that there's a lot of crosstalk there.
The skin microbiome and the gut microbiome are comparing notes, and they're comparing notes with the immune system, and they're all kind of like...
you know, trying to get on the same page in terms of what's happening and what they need to prepare for and, you know, what's coming down the pike.
They always want to know, like, where am I in the universe and what should I be expecting?
