Um, on a consistent basis.
And some of the teams that do do that actually, uh sort of out baseball other teams.
You see like the Milwaukee Brewers do it, you see some of that with the Tampa Bay Rays, uh, you see it with some other teams, but it's a mindset that doesn't really exist anymore.
Uh consistently, it's one of the reasons why you're never seeing a three hundred hitter.
It's why you um
You w there's some on base percentages just because some pitchers just don't throw enough strikes.
But as far as just keeping an inning alive and the base hit and the double uh and the just the walk or just putting the ball in play, that is no longer valued or wasn't valued.
And you know, people got away from it.
And as the pitching continued to improve, the hitting did not.
And so the hitting clearly is not caught up to
what's going on.
When I say improved, I mean the stuff overall.
Uh the velocity, the uh
The spin rates, the the ability to move the ball left, right, um, to cut it, to sink it.
Um the rise it.
You know, uh and what is sort of strange to me, and I never really understood this, is that if the velocities were greater, why you wouldn't also try to increase your ability to barrel a baseball up by making that happen?
Nowadays, the swing paths are such that it at there's like one spot in your bat path that you can make consistent contact in.
And there's really no margin for error with the swing paths that are being created by most hitters.
It's interesting that he only signed what, a one year, ten million dollar deal.
And uh honestly the value of this player is way greater than that.
