A lot of the modern versions, they all want to, for some reason, ancient and modern authors, they all want to defend Helen.
They say, oh, she wasn't so bad.
It wasn't her fault.
And the modern ones tend to do it by saying, oh, she was stuck in a loveless marriage.
You know, it's really not her fault.
She had to get away.
But in ancient ones, that's no excuse.
Well, the Greeks took a very strong view about this kind of female behavior.
Of course they did.
You know, it's a very patriarchal culture, and they think of women as being sex maniacs, basically, and incapable of self-control.
So therefore, it's easy to seduce them.
And so Helen's behavior is kind of typical woman behavior.
