But she's also the most beautiful woman in the world.
And we don't want to think bad things about her because we all secretly want her.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, if you think about the other bad women in Greek mythology, like Clytemnestra, who is my favorite, who kills her husband and Medea, who kills her children.
You don't see like 15 authors all trying to say, well, it wasn't really her fault.
But then you can turn it around and say, yeah, it's pretty privileged, but it's also power.
It's power.
The way I first thought about Helen was as a figure of power.
She has this superpower.
And that's what, you know, in a patriarchal situation, women and other oppressed people use whatever tools they have at their availability.
And because men have this unfortunate weakness that they often want to have sex with women.
I feel like you can't really blame women for taking advantage of that.
But that brings up another issue that I'm interested in, which is like, it's the men's fault.
They didn't have to follow her.
They didn't have to go.
So the Greek sources, they do, a lot of them do blame Helen.
I mean, she is an icon of the bad woman.
But they blame Paris more.
He's the one who took the initiative and seduced her and therefore he's the bad man.
