The money's not worth it to me at that point.
So having something like that in your life, like a trigger that you can use to flip the switch to show up as that ideal version of who you are.
Like maybe it's, you know, I wake up and do hard things like, okay, that's, but that's my ideal self.
It's the person who wakes up and does hard things where I like, I swallow the frog every day to start the day.
I go and do the hardest thing that's right in front of me.
Being able to turn that version of you on when you need to, that is how you progress towards the life that you actually want.
It's like you're reminding yourself of the same thing.
It's funny, by the way, that the wiring around that... I'm wired the same way.
And now I have a toddler.
And...
he clearly has somehow just gotten this same wiring that like he just wants to win at everything he does and i didn't teach him that like there wasn't something where i was like hey we only win like i haven't talked to him about that before but the way that we get him to do anything now is by me saying i'm gonna do it and then i'm gonna beat him at it like hey he's not drinking his milk i'm like i'm gonna drink the milk faster and then he's sitting there chugging milk like literally anything so the wiring i don't think you can fight i just think you're born with it yeah you're born with it
I often wonder how many extraordinary people waste their entire lives waiting for the approval and fearing the judgment of people who were never even thinking about or looking at them.
The spotlight effect is the name of this psychological phenomenon that we
we overestimate the degree to which other people are noticing us, staring at us.
Like we think everyone is staring at us.
The reality is nobody is thinking about you.
Everyone's just thinking about themselves.
Everyone's just worried about themselves.
And so nobody cares to me was a piece of advice I did get when I was 30 that I wish I got when I was 20, because what it reminds you of is like, whether you win or whether you lose, nobody cares.
So you might as well go do that thing that you've wanted to do.
