If we start seeing real AI-driven layoffs, I would argue that

AI layoffs right now are a narrative.

Meaning, I think the companies that are laying off a bunch of people, they overloaded people, and they're realizing that most of their people are pretty useless, and that they didn't need them.

And it actually is not that they've adopted AI that's dramatically changing their workflows.

I think most companies that are using AI right now are, on the surface level, using it so that they can say to their shareholders that they are, and they're not really meaningfully.

That will change.

I would envision in the U.S., I think you're already seeing it, frankly, that there's going to be an enormous political-driven pushback against AI, because as soon as you start seeing meaningful layoffs, both the left and the right are going to agree on one thing, which is, we need to regulate this to all hell, because people are losing their jobs.

Well, you lose to China, then.

I think that the geopolitical risk of all of this is actually my much bigger fear than the economic risk in the short-term.

My two biggest fears actually would be the geopolitical side of a race with China, and the risk of anarchy of 20% unemployment, but the S&P 500 at all-time highs.

I think that is a recipe for guns in the street type thing.

I don't think that

politicians are going to allow that to happen in the U.S.

I just think you see, and you already are seeing, the narratives around 2028, driven by most of the, right now, leading progressives, but it'll be on both sides, are going to be anti-AI.

They took our jobs is just going to be the main thing that gets talked about.

I think humans are going to have to wrestle with

What are we willing to automate and outsource to non-humans?

I don't know how many people are going to be willing to embrace robots in their homes.

I don't know how many people are going to be willing to embrace robots or machines doing work that they consider to be things that humans should do.

Maybe we'll come around, but I guess my bias would be that it will take much longer than we originally expected.
