It's like, go watch that movie WALL-E, and you'll get pretty scared about what the future looks like if we take away all human motivation to show up and work on and do hard things.
The other thing that I think about with AI constantly is this idea of the doorman fallacy.
Rory Sutherland, this British advertising executive, had this thought experiment to say, imagine you own a five-star hotel, and you hire a consultant to come in and
you know, look at efficiency opportunities.
And the consultant looks around and he sees the doorman and he's like, you pay that doorman $40,000 a year and you could just put in an automatic door and you'd save $40,000 a year.
So you fire the doorman and the consultant's all happy and you're all happy because you have this great efficiency.
And two years go by and the hotel is just in disarray because it turns out that the doorman was doing a lot more than just opening a door.
He was like,
providing security and prestige and making guests feel welcome and doing all these other things that didn't show up in the surface-level job description of opening the door.
When it comes to AI, this applies so directly to your life, because at all points, whether you're a business owner or in your own personal life, you're going to be faced with these opportunities to drive efficiency by just eliminating jobs or eliminating things in your own life.
And at all steps along that path, you need to make sure you understand the real value that's under the surface of that person or of that thing that you are doing before you strip it out.
Because it's very easy to optimize something and not realize that you've just killed something underneath it that was much more important.
Example for me would be writing.
I could very easily try to outsource my writing to AI, but writing is how I think.
And so, if I were to eliminate my writing process, it wasn't about the output that it created, it was about the thinking that actually underlied it.
So, I would all of a sudden optimize the life out of my life in a lot of ways.
I invested in some of those robot companies.
I'm an investor in this company, Faker, that's making these robots that are freaking crazy already.
I think you're going to get massive pushback from people all along that journey, is the thing.
Take the U.S., for example.
