So these these were numbers for June.

Uh the national headline measure came in at one point seven percent uh on the annual rate.

That was as expected, as did the ex fresh food measure that came in just a touch lower at one point six.

So on their own

uh it's hard to sort of see that these were numbers that were necessarily going to worry the bond market too much.

But coming into the Bank of Japan, I guess the background is, you know, the yen is sitting comfortably above uh

or dollar yen sitting completely above one hundred and sixty three.

Uh as you said, Japanese uh sovereign bond yields have sold off and that market's been sort of underperforming on a cross market basis.

Um and there was also a report, I think, uh late last week just telling us that, you know, maybe investors shouldn't be so complacent thinking only that the Bank of Japan is going to go once every six ma uh every six months and that but possibly the cadence of rate hikes uh could be a little bit more frequent.

Uh it doesn't feel like the market's remotely worried about that when you look at pricing for this week's meeting and and even their next one.

Uh it's it's still pretty thin.

So I guess, you know, maybe setting us up for the possibility of some sort of hawkish surprise from uh the Bank of Japan later this week won't necessarily uh raise rates but might signal that they uh could be more activist.

Yeah, that's right.

So, you know, this these are really sort of solid uh PMI

results for the month of July.

So it's interesting in the sense that

Presumably they would have captured a little bit of what was going on uh in in the Middle East.

But generally speaking, I think it sort of tells you a story of uh, you know, underlying resiliency of the global economy.
