Yeah, that's right.
So I guess there were some uh some interesting questions thrown at her at the press conference.
That's not always the case, but certainly yesterday, uh, I guess she was sort of asked, you know, like, is the strategy that the bank has had, which is that they feel like if they can just take a little bit of heat out of the economy, get that balance between aggregate demand and aggregate supply back to back to balance.
Uh so effectively
a zero output gap.
So not positive, but not negative either.
Uh their view is that that should be enough to get inflation under control.
And if they can do it that way, then they'll get inflation down with um
not creating too much, I guess, chaos or disruption in the labour market.
That's been the approach uh all along.
And so she was clear in saying that's still the approach and that's the way we're thinking about it.
But I guess she did open the door just to crack, uh, you know, to a scenario where they might not be successful in that strategy.
And that would be a scenario in which inflation, you know, is I guess sticky
And uh better embedded uh than than they would otherwise like.
And in that instance, that might require them to be more aggressive on rates and I guess effectively exact more of a cost in terms of those macro outcomes.
So materially slower growth and and a much higher unemployment rate.
So you know, she was very clear about saying this is not the outcome that we want.
We don't want to receive.
You know, we think we can basically, you know, get that balance between demand and supply, get inflation down, and do that in a way that minimizes uh the rise in the unemployment rate.
But I guess she she was just sort of floating the idea that, you know, one of the scenarios or the downside risk to the Australian economy is that they're not successful on that strategy and they actually have to go for something that might be historically a little bit more conventional, which is to say.
