You know, they're dealing with, you know, quite immense and significant structural changes to their economy, you know, thanks to shifts in US trade policy.
And they've also had some, you know, some cyclical um issues as well.
Um, you know.
The meeting comes on the back of what were some quite soft labor market numbers uh in Canada last week.
And then earlier this week we had very benign inflation numbers.
Um so you know, I guess that gives the Bank of Canada the opportunity to sound uh, you know, maybe a little more dovish or less hawkish.
And then of course the main game is is going to be early tomorrow morning, our time at least, the Fed.
Uh and so we will get a
a new set of forecasts, a new set of dots, uh we'll get the decision and then obviously the press conference.
So there will be a whole lot of information to absorb uh early tomorrow morning.
Um, but effectively
you know, the market is uh looking for no change from the Fed.
Um, I think seeming to settle on the consensus that maybe the median dot will show scope for one rate cut um over the course of twenty twenty six, but also expecting, uh, you know, some forecast revisions that are pretty um, you know
well populated, you know, possibly higher inflation, possibly lower growth, uh, over the course of this year.
But

And that and that's I guess been the direction of travel for front end rates in the US where, you know, pre conflict we were looking at uh, you know, maybe the market pricing close to fifty basis points, give or take, of cuts in the second half of this year.
And much of that has been taken out uh of the US front end, just as, you know, markets have really rethought the outlook for short rates in every market, uh and and definitely pushed in a more hawkish direction.
direction as a result of the the shock to oil prices.
Yeah, that's right.
