I mean our colleagues at BNZ, you know, have changed their inflation forecasts.

They put out a a nice note yesterday saying that they think inflation's gonna get pretty close to four percent by the middle of this year.

Uh and you know most most forecasters are doing the same things, nifting inflation forecasts, uh, you know, maybe taking uh a little bit off growth.

But then I guess their point is is that you know that's the peak, but then it stays above three percent uh

annual rates for the next couple of quarters as well.

And I guess that's quite a different outlook for inflation, perhaps to you know what uh even the RBN Z thought at the beginning of the year.

So I guess just just indicating that uh, you know, for economies like Australia and New Zealand, uh although they're, you know, not not in similar situations, uh, you know, the the lift in inflation is going to be a reasonably

significant one.

So our colleagues sort of saying, you know, their numbers look quite different to what New Zealand Treasury are forecasting and even the RBN Z uh at the moment.

And I think that's just gonna gonna make the RBN Z maybe a little bit more sensitive with that inflation backdrop to, you know, activity data that could possibly come in a bit stronger than expected.

Yeah, that's right.

So, you know, I'm not sure that the the current account numbers are gonna mean too much and and PPI numbers, you know, interesting because uh, you know, like we've got a bit of a dynamic in the US where even ahead of the Middle East conflict, uh, at least the core PC E deflator uh story is is starting to look a little bit troubling.

You know, that that's running at an annual rate of three uh three month annualized rates higher than that.

Um and so I think

people are going to be paying, you know, reasonably close attention to uh some of the numbers that go into firming up those core PC forecasts and the PPI is is indeed one of those.

Yeah, that's right.

So this is a a bit of a a mega week for central bank meetings.

RVA obviously kicked things off first yesterday, Bank of Canada uh tonight, so they're widely expected to leave rates on hold uh over there.

But they're dealing with, I guess, in some ways the worst of all worlds.
