I guess my suggestion was that Russia might be an interesting case study for how this how this might be developing, in that China still couches its support in plausibly deniable terms, despite providing, as you say, a ton of material support, diplomatic cover.

But they are

Really harnessing the forces in in Putin's Russia that are willing to undertake the kinds of actions that are consistent with China's own objectives in Eurasia, which is specifically pushing back against NATO.

I agree that Iran is is a little more complicated and it's also a bit earlier in the war.

My sense is that China might be, Beijing might be weighing its own relative position.

And by that I

I mean China's better insulated than many of the other

East Asian countries, particularly the US allies, Japan and Korea and Taiwan as well, are really badly exposed to these energy disruptions through the strait.

And so China, relatively speaking, can wait it out for longer.

I also suspect that they're watching how this is playing out in America.
