And there might be some utility in the war continuing in some contained capacity because ultimately it's it's making America look weaker than it did before the war.

And that this the world's leading military has not been able to decisively win a conflict against Iran, which, you know, doesn't really have a navy and by all accounts is not a leading

military force.

So there might also be some some tactical considerations there about its involvement in any peace process.

These these initiatives are super important and they've been cover there are four of them now, development, security, civilization, and as you say, most recently in global governance.

But the most to me, the most defining element of these is that all of these initiatives are preceded by the word global.

And

That to me suggests that this is the scaffolding infrastructure for a really serious effort to create an alternative system of order that is explicitly Chinese-led um and serves Chinese interests.

And in many cases, is is what it's defined in opposition to the existing order.

I think that it's really worth paying attention to these.

It's also important when reading these to test what they're saying.

I think we shouldn't really be taking these external-facing documents at their word and that they are they're a form of prop propaganda in in some ways.

And so, yeah, just some examples of how these claims are in some ways contested by the

realities.

The global governance initiative, for example, says the authority of international law must be upheld, but China is supporting Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which which is in contravention of international law.

I don't think anyone denies that.

Another example is that it explicitly states that this initiative is not about overthrowing the international order, nor is it creating a new system outside the current framework.

But China, Russia, and to some extent North Korea are collaborating on a new initiative called the New Security Architecture for Eurasia, which actually

appeared first in embryonic terms in its peace plan for Ukraine.
