And there was one specialist cave diver who's involved in the rescue mission.
His name is Miko Parsi.
He was leading the rescue and we'll talk about that in a sec.
But he said in 30 years of diving through caves and mines and tricky parts of what's beneath the surface of the earth, he has never seen tunnels this narrow.

And sure enough, something did go terribly wrong.

Well, interestingly, the first thing that local authorities do is call on the Thai rescue team.
They're called the Meta Tam Rescue to come to Laos to help with the rescue.
Exactly.
So that's now become a specialist team that's almost now renowned for their work in these high risk, very complex rescue cave situations.
And
With the experience of that 2018 rescue, they were on the ground almost immediately when the alarm was raised.
I think that's super interesting because, I mean, this clearly doesn't happen very often if there's foreign experts needed to be brought in.
